Midgard Serpent

The Characters

Meet the characters in our stories, all adventurers in other stories and by other names. Their spirits travel through the Empyreal Realm, their memories woven into the fabric of the new lives they find themselves in. Though they have free will, they are pawns in the games of the mysterious Eternal Lords.

In our first adventure, we are all members of the disbanded-but-recently-reunited Company of the Thorn, an Eternal Warriors reincarnation of the Company of the Horn.

Blade Blade, scoundrel and mercenary. Blade, or Branden, started off life as a spoiled merchant's son. Disdaining his family pursuit, he set off at a young age for adventure and never looked back. His luck and his skill have made him one of the more successful mercenaries and light touch men, and he has worked all along the western coast, and even travelled to the Southern Continent. Blade is originally from Heklamar.

Blade is the reencarnation of the Forgotten Realms (first iteration, during high school, Runequest) character by the same name. His trademark is carving "Blade was here" in the tables wherever he goes.

Ghotu Graver Ghotu Graver, nomad, gladiator, mercenary, stalwart fighter, veteran adventurer. Ghotu is the most ancient of the Eternal Warriors, having been in a character first in the world of Kestrune (the midnight gaming world I ran with Robbie and Micah while in college undergrad, Runequest), Forgotten Realms, (second iteration, during undergrad, Runequest), Aelgard, and in other camio appearances. He is also a popular Diablo II character, the account number is. . .
Bibi Bibi, wandering outcast druid. Her past is tied up with the mysterious Obsidian Stone, a dark jewel that was part of a relic of her tribe, until it disappeared. Bibi seeks the stone to alleviate the curse of lycanthropy she carries. After having met Humphrey and learning the history from the books they found, Bibi believes that a southern mage stole the Obsidian Stone form her tribe long ago. She had a vision when the dark one stole it, which led her to follow the dark one north and eventually be captured by raiding giants. It was at the steading, as an escaped slave, that Bibi joined the current adventure.

Bibi is an Eternal Warrior as well--she originally appeared in Brian's short lived Western Shores campaign. She had lycanthropy there as well.

Bronk Beareye Bronk Beareye, Rasheman warrior and brawler. He and Blade terrorized the west coast of the Forgotten Realms, from Waterdeep to the Southern Cities (first iteration of the Forgotten Realms, high school, Runequest). Among their more memorable exploits are faking "the fits" to swindle money, and painting Brian's character's horse pink, which precipitated more than one death if memory serves. Bronk was involved in numerous notoriously and unnecessarily lethal barfights.
Humphrey Beauregard Humphrey Beauregard, adept mage from the southern Magic Guild. He met the characters just after they completed their raid of the hill giant steading. Humphrey is a mage from the southern Magic Guild that follows the dark one, who stole the Obsidian Stone from his order. Humphrey's master believed that the stone was the centerpiece to the Rod of Seven Parts, an artifact of great power. He is on a quest to stop the dark one from using the Stone to complete the Rod, and thereby summon the Githyanki Demon Queen of Darkness.

Humphrey is an iteration of an ancient gaming character, from the days of junior high and high school old AD&D characters.

Bruce Tyrlan Bruce Tyrlan, fighter turned Enterprizer. He is an original Company of the Thorn member who retired from adventuring get married and start a trading company. By opening the long closed Bugbear Trail, he established an important alternate route to the southern Free Cities, which he monopolized ruthlessly and effectively. He is now a powerful merchant lord, one of a newly arising class, who's wealth rivals that of even petty nobles. He has agents in many cities, mostly in the Free Cities. Bruce is originally from Heklamar. He is a changed reencarnation of Melruk from Aelgard when we played Runequest, but is older, a merchant prince rather than a usurper, and has a gut.
Mog Toltec Mog Toltec, tattooed orcish blood-shaman. He is an embodiment of the eternal DM's magic-using character. He is a DM hint box, plot device, player character. Othe such DM magic-using characters included Calamar, Nepal, and that kid with the magic hat on the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon. Not really.
The Beautiful Fyona! Fyona is a mercenary/duelist, daughter of the infamous Lady Garlana "Bloodsword."
