Turn Fifty-Three

Brief Recap: Last turn, the company was riding the Broken Wind home to Galay when Bibi, standing on deck, changed into her panther form. Blade and Fyona climbed into the riggings, then confronted Bronk who was moving to kill Bibi. Humphrey and Mog came on deck as well.

Humphrey's Gambit

The panther stands over the sailor, Dirty Pete they called him, a killing lust in the animal's eyes. Dirty Pete scrambles, tangled in the rope, trying to get to the lower deck. But the panther is on him, tearing into his exposed back with rending claws. Dirty Pete's screams alert those on the ship who were yet unaware of the beast among them. Ghotu, who had been napping in a storeroom below, awakens and grabs his net and axe.

Humphrey finishes his spell as he watches Bibi maul Dirty Pete. "Irrorma Mageia," the old man says, and suddenly he separates into two mages standing several feet apart.

This distracts the panther, who leaps from Dirty Pete at one of the images of Humphrey. Claws extended, it passes through the illusion and smashes head first into a barrel half full of battered green winter apples, splintering the barrel and scattering the small hard apples all over the deck. [Everyone who moves any distance among the apples must make a DEXx6% roll. See the Battle Map.] Humphrey is again amazed at the size of the panther, easily as large as the biggest tiger.

Meanwhile, Blade faces Bronk. Bronk's surprise attack with the butt of his halberd just clips Blade's chin, the duelist rolling back with the blow at the last instant. [Blade takes 17 damage, down to 108/125.]

Blade recovers and slips inside Bronk's defense, striking his companion in the face with the butt of his longsword. [Bronk takes 10, down to 102/112.]

Fyona lands behind the Rasheman, drawing her swords.

Bardock, seeing Fyona draw her weapons on Bronk, draws his two-handed sword off his back. Fyona is forced to face him as he moves to guard Bronk's back.

Posting Instructions: Fyona is now faced with Bardock, ready to defend his brother. Blade and Bronk also face off, while Humphrey and Mog must deal with Bibi. Ghotu can be heard running up the stairs from below.
