Turn Twenty-Seven

Act II: The Hall of Snurre Ironbelly the Foul, Fire Giant King

Brief Recap: Last turn, King Snurre led the party (along with several fire giant warriors) to the second level of the mountain hall, down a long sloping passage that increased in heat till all the party was sweltering. There they met two Githyanki in a hallway intersection. King Snurre and the party attack the two.

Attack the Githyanki!

Ghotu and Blade each rush to attack the Githyanki on the left as Snurre swings his sword at the one on the right, hoping to surprise his enemy.

Snurre's attack glances off the Githyanki's robe, revealing armor beneath. The Githyanki Knight staggers back from the blow, but still manages to get its sword out as it regains its balance.

Ghotu's axe strikes the other Githyanki a glancing blow as it steps back and frees its own sword [Ghotu does 14 damage]. Blade follows Ghotu into the fray, stabbing at his target and hearing his blade strike armor beneath the robe [Blade does 12 damage].

Mog casts his Hold Person spell at one of the Githyanki, with no effect.

The Githyanki fighting the King speaks its own language to the King while it fights, perhaps trying to reason with the fire giant king. It also slashes the king's arm with its rune inscribed sword, drawing blood.

The other Githyanki glares at Ghotu, who feels something strange in his head. Suddenly, Ghotu's mind erupts in anger, an unreasoning fury that causes him to forget his own safety. Ghotu is not himself. Dropping his shield, he hacks at the Githyanki two handed with his axe. The Githyanki parries, but doesn't stop much of the blow, which crashes down on its chest plate [15 damage]. The Githyanki tries to attack, but its sword is batted down by Blade's Dragonslayer [12 damage]. Ghotu's axe rises and falls again mercilessly, this time splitting the helmeted head in two [natural 20 to hit, 40 damage]. Ghotu's axe is stuck in the Githyanki's helmet and skull. He places his foot on its head and tries to work his axe free, the wild killing lust still in his eyes.

Meanwhile, Bronk has been walking slowly toward the Gith. His newly revealed memories are now crystal clear to him, suppressed for his entire adult life. Seeing the Githyanki firsthand brought them back.

Suddenly he has control over himself and says very politely to the Gith fighting Snurre, in the common tongue: "Pardon me...do you know where the nearest graveyard is?" Not waiting for an answer, Bronk brings his halberd down on the Githyanki,

Already wounded by Snurre's surprise attack, the Githyanki falls to Bronk's halberd, its skull shattered.

As Bronk turns around, he is brought out of his memories by the sight of Ghotu Graver raising his axe to attack Blade, the nearest person to the enraged fighter.

Posting Instructions: The party must realize Ghotu is Enraged (the effect of a Mind Blast), and deal with him. You can write anything your character could reasonably have seen or figure out. Blade sees that Ghotu is about to attack him. If you post your actions soon, I will post more during this week to resolve the scene and move us along.
