Brief Recap: Last turn, the Ritual of Ruin was completed, and the company met Xamadin, a gith rebel who sets them on the quest to undo the Magocracy's spell.

Quest for the Crossroads

"My lord, there is no time to waste," Gregor says. "The dead, they will scent the living and hunt us as beasts. We can only hope that we have fallen in the realm of one of the greater devils, for they are crushing in their laws and iron-fisted in their ways, if the scrolls tell it right."

"Yes," speaks Kellorn. "it is the demons we must fear even more, for their realms are naught but realms of chaos. Chaos in the Dead plane is terrifying." The wizard spoke with an edge in his voice. If this Xamidin speaks the truth, then we are likely in a chaos realm. If so, we do not have much time before the lesser demons are upon us. These we can hold off. But if a greater demon comes, we are doomed."

"Kellorn and I can use magic to hide the keep from their senses for a time and to protect the party if they are to journey to the Crossroads of Yllth. But we must hurry, if we are to protect ourselves."

The King ponders his words for a moment, then laughs. "It seems if one cheats death for as long as I have, the reaper merely brings it to my home. Vingrot, organize the men and prepare for battle! Wizards, cast your spells! And you, heroes, I assume you will follow this course that has been laid in front of us, trap or no? If so, then make yourself to the Royal Alchemist and Armorer, for the greatest of our Kingdoms weapons will accompany you on your quest. They won't be much use here if you fail."

Mog says, "Mog will go to the crossroads." He then descends into the main keep to find the armory.

On the way, he asks the others, "What think you? Be it Humphrey which the gith knight speaks of?"

"I know not who the Gith speaks of," sayus Gregor, "though I know of this Humphrey. He was a wise and powerful wizard, but was hated and feared by many. They did not trust him for he was both mysterious and cunning in his ways. Speaking of wizards, it is important that those of you who cast spells be careful, for the dark magic of the Deadplane affects [or impacts, if you prefer] they way in which spells function. It is rumored that magic has a mutative affect on those near it when it is cast, though I can hardly say from experience. Just be wary."

The party descends deep into the depths of the earth, past the dungeons and into the royal armory. They are greeted by a man larger than any human they have ever seen--even larger than Bronk Beareye. He is bald with a patch over his left eye. His muscles are ripped, but his skin looks as if it has been burned severely in many places. "Hail Kilgar. The King has ordered that these persons be outfitted as they wish, from the royal archives." Gregor hands him a small slip of paper bearing the Kings mark. Please make sure they are well-tended while they search the archives.

"I will tend to them well, Gregor, especially this one" Kilgar says, grinning a toothless grin at Fyona.

"Don't mind him Fyona. He has a thing for redheads."

"I can empathize," says Blade

"What can Kilgar get for m'lady? We've got all manner of magic item and weapon here in the archives. Just name what you want and I will fetch for m'lady."

"And for the rest of them, too, Kilgar." Gregor says.

"Yes, yes. Of course, lord."

Mog thinks about what threats they might face, and says, "Does the King's armory have anything to protect a holy man from fire? I have heard of magic rings that allow one to bear great heat and flames."

"You as pretty as me, ogre." Kilgar says. "I be right back." Mog snorts when he is called an "ogre."

For nearly twenty minutes Mog waits. Then Kilgar returns bearing a small box of blackened leather. Inside is a strand of leather that is charred and burned. He picks it up and pulls at it, as if trying to pull it apart, but it is strong and unbreakable. "This is similar to what you seek. This necklace is from the hide of a red dragon and will protect you from fire, though it does not make you immune. It will do much to keep your skin safe and your body free of burns. I was wearing it when I faced the Hellforge, or today I would be but a piece of charred toast, instead of this beautiful man that I am!" He laughs.

Mog says, "Mog gives thanks to the King and his servant." He dons the necklace.

"I will require the talismans of the Lady Luck. Ususally the priests of her order have a stone that grants them luck, as well as a blade that does the same. In addition, since I fight with two swords, I'd like a short sword that will enhance my already amazing parrying ability. I've had all of them in teh past, until the Lady shat upon me. Hopefully she is through clearing her bowels upon me and will once again smile upon her faithful servant." says Blade
