Turn Six

Act I: The Steading of the Hill Giant Chief

(continued)

Brief Recap (turn 5): The characters entered combat with four ogres in a 20' wide hallway, dimly lit. One ogre is fleeing away from the party, presumably to warn Chief Nosra. Bruce and Ghotu engage the remaining 4 ogres, while Blade tries to throw a knife at the fleeing one. Mog and Krulek duck.

Bruce and Ghotu step forward to meet the four advancing ogres, as the fifth ogre flees down the passage. Bruce is hit by one of the ogres’ axes, which glances off his shoulder. He returns the blow, wounding that first ogre. The second ogre misses Bruce, and the other two miss Ghotu with their axes. Ghotu splits one ogre’s skull with his axe, leaving three ogres, one of them wounded.

Bruce recovers from his swing and whips his axe around again, this time catching one of the ogres in the collar bone. The great axe slices through the ogre’s armor and bone to sever his head and part of one shoulder. Bruce also uses the butt of his axe to smack the remaining ogre in the face, foiling its attack. Ghotu’s axe is a blur, slicing the hand on one ogre then slicing its throat. Ghotu then plants his axe in the spine of the ogre which Bruce had stunned. All the ogres lie dead in the hall. Blade steps forward and flings a throwing knife at the fleeing ogre, now far down the passage. He hears his knife strike, but the ogre keeps running, nearing a corner.

Bruce yells, "We have to go after the other Ogre, before he alerts everyone, if he does, we are doomed!" and he pulls two figurines from his belt, throwing them to the ground. Bruce had bought the figurines only a month earlier, and had not used them yet, though he had used similar items before.

The two small black statues polymorph into large jet black war dogs. "Attack him!" He yells, pointing to the back of the running Ogre. The war dogs both look at him calmly and say together, "Yes Master," then bound down the passage as the ogre turns the corner.

Everyone in the company runs down the passage after the dogs and the ogre, in the same marching order as before.
